CELEBRAZIONE LITURGICA PER LA GIORNATA MONDIALE DELLA LEBBRA PRESSO IL GRAN BALIATO DI SCOZIA

Lo scorso sabato 28 gennaio, i membri del Gran Baliato di Scozia si sono riuniti presso la Chiesa della Santa Trinità della Chiesa Episcopale Scozzese di Stirling per celebrare la giornata mondiale della lebbra, una importante ricorrenza nella vita dell'Ordine.

La congregazione è stata accolta nella chiesa dal rettore, il canonico Christoph Wuscher, che ha sottolineato come proprio quest’anno cada il 145° anniversario della Chiesa. Il Cappellano Generale, Rev. Alexander MacDonald, ha poi pronunciato un breve discorso di benvenuto da parte dell'Ordine e la funzione è stata condotta dal Cappellano Maggiore, Rev. Colin McAulay.

La preghiera di apertura è stata guidata dal Segretario Generale Cavaliere Colin Russell, che ha usato la parola della Preghiera dei Cavalieri. Anche il Molto Rev. Padre Ian Evans del Gran Priorato d'Inghilterra. L'ultimo membro celebrante è stato il Molto Rev. Emsley Nimmo che ha guidato la preghiera di intercessione.

L'oratore del pomeriggio è stato Stuart McAra del Leprosy Mission Scotland. Stuart è entrato a far parte di Leprosy Mission Scotland nel 2004 come coordinatore di area per la Scozia centro-meridionale.

Stuart ha parlato con grande passione del lavoro della Missione per i lebbrosi. Seguendo Gesù Cristo, la Missione Lebbrosi si sforza di spezzare le catene della lebbra, consentendo alle persone di raggiungere la guarigione, la dignità e la vita in tutta la sua pienezza. Ha poi sottolineato che in Nepal l'attuale ospedale e centro di ricerca hanno bisogno di un urgente ammodernamento, poiché dopo 50 anni di servizio l'edificio necessita di interventi strutturali.

Il Gran Balì S.E. il Cavaliere Roy Scott ha ringraziato tutti i partecipanti e ha auspicato che vengano organizzati altri eventi per continuare il lavoro dell'Ordine in Scozia.

LITURGICAL CELEBRATION FOR WORLD LEPROSY DAY AT THE GRAND BAILIWICK OF SCOTLAND

Last Saturday, 28th January, members of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland gathered at Holy Trinity Scottish Episcopal Church in Stirling to celebrate World Leprosy Day, an important anniversary in the life of the Order.

The congregation was welcomed into the church by the Rector, Canon Christoph Wuscher, who pointed out that this year marks the 145th anniversary of the Church. The Chaplain General, Rev. Alexander MacDonald, then gave a short welcome address on behalf of the Order, and the service was led by the Senior Chaplain, Rev. Colin McAulay.

The opening prayer was led by Secretary General Knight Colin Russell, who used the word of the Knights' Prayer. Also present was the Very Rev. Father Ian Evans of the Grand Priory of England. The last celebrating member was the Very Rev. Emsley Nimmo who led the intercessory prayer.

The afternoon speaker was Stuart McAra of Leprosy Mission Scotland. Stuart joined Leprosy Mission Scotland in 2004 as Area Coordinator for South Central Scotland.

Stuart spoke with great passion about the work of the Leprosy Mission. Following Jesus Christ, the Leprosy Mission strives to break the chains of leprosy, enabling people to achieve healing, dignity and life in all its fullness. He went on to emphasise that the existing hospital and research centre in Nepal is in urgent need of modernisation, as after 50 years of service, the building is in need of structural work.

Grand Bailiff H.E. Knight Roy Scott thanked all participants and expressed his hope that further events would be organised to continue the Order's work in Scotland.
