Il Molto Reverendo Padre Prof. Ivan Ivanov, ChLJ, responsabile per l’Ecumenismo del Gran Baliato di Sicilia dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme, è stato elevato ad Arciprete dal Metropolita per l’Europa della Chiesa Ortodossa di Bulgaria.

Nella Chiesa ortodossa e nelle Chiese cattoliche orientali il grado di Arciprete esiste come grado onorifico. È equivalente ad un protopresbitero della tradizione greca. E’ il grado più alto che il clero sposato può raggiungere. Gli arcipreti si distinguono per la croce pettorale che portano. Nella tradizione slava si tratta specificamente della croce d'oro.

The Most Reverend Father Prof. Ivan Ivanov, ChLJ, responsible for Ecumenism of the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, has been elevated to Archpriest by the Metropolitan for Europe of the Orthodox Church of Bulgaria.

In the Orthodox Church and in the Eastern Catholic Churches, the rank of Archpriest exists as an honorary rank. It is equivalent to a proto-presbyter in the Greek tradition. It is the highest rank that married clergy can attain. Archpriests are distinguished by the pectoral cross they wear. In the Slavic tradition it is specifically the golden cross.
