APPROVATO DEFINITIVAMENTE IL NUOVO STATUTO DEL VENERANDO CAPITOLO

Con decreto del 13 aprile 2026 l’arcivescovo di Monreale ha ratificato il nuovo statuto del Venerando capitolo dei Cavalieri di San Lazzaro in Monreale, associazione di fedeli di diritto canonico, alla quale fino ad ora potevano appartenere solo i membri cattolici dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme.

Con le modifiche approvate anche i non cattolici ne faranno parte sia pure a titolo onorario e senza diritto di voto, e senza potervi ricoprire cariche.

Le modifiche, in ogni caso, rafforzano la vocazione ecumenica dell’Istituzione e lo spirito di unità nell’unico battesimo che caratterizza i cavalieri lazzariti.

NEW STATUTES OF THE VENERABLE CHAPTER FINALLY APPROVED

With a decree dated April 13, 2026, the Archbishop of Monreale ratified the new statutes of the Venerable Chapter of the Knights of Saint Lazarus in Monreale, an association of the faithful governed by canon law, to which until now only Catholic members of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem could belong.

With the approved amendments, non-Catholics will also be included, albeit in an honorary capacity and without the right to vote, and without being able to hold office.

The amendments, in any case, strengthen the ecumenical vocation of the Institution and the spirit of unity in the single baptism that characterizes the Knights of Saint Lazarus.
