ACQUISITO AL TESORO DEL GRAN BALIATO UN ANTICO RELIQUIARIO CON LA VERA CROCE DI CRISTO

Il Tesoro del Gran Baliato si arricchisce con un reliquiario della prima metà dell’ottocento, in legno ottone e vetro, contenente la vera croce di Gesù Cristo.

Il reliquiario reca il sigillo ed il certificato di autenticità di Mons. Leo Ciampa, all’epoca Arcivescovo metropolita di Conza e amministratore perpetuo di Campagna, dove rimase fino al 1848 quando fu nominato arcivescovo di Sorrento. Morì a Sorrento il 9 settembre 1854.

Il reliquiario sarà esposto al culto presso la Chiesa Capitolare del Sacro Cuore in Monreale.

AN ANCIENT RELIQUARY WITH THE TRUE CROSS OF CHRIST ACQUIRED FOR THE GRAND BAILIWICK TREASURY

The Grand Bailiwick Treasury is enriched with a reliquary from the first half of the 19th century, made of wood, brass, and glass, containing the true cross of Jesus Christ.

The reliquary bears the seal and certificate of authenticity of Monsignor Leo Ciampa, then Metropolitan Archbishop of Conza and perpetual administrator of Campagna, where he remained until 1848, when he was appointed Archbishop of Sorrento. He died in Sorrento on September 9, 1854.

The reliquary will be displayed for worship at the Capitular Church of the Sacred Heart in Monreale.
