CATTOLICI E ORTODOSSI, TRE PROGETTI PER LAVORARE INSIEME

(Quarta Riunione del Comitato Direttivo della Fondazione Pro Oriente, Vienna 4 - 7 novembre 2021)

Sono tre i progetti del Comitato direttivo della Fondazione Pro Oriente, che vanno dalla guarigione delle ferite alla implementazione dei dialoghi già stabiliti, e che puntano, come è negli scopi della fondazione, di dare nuovo impulso al cammino ecumenico tra cattolici e ortodossi.

Nata nel 1964 e fondata dal Cardinale Franz Koenig, arcivescovo di Vienna, la fondazione ha avuto dall’inizio il compito di funzionare da ponte con le realtà ortodosse del mondo orientale. Vi partecipa anche il Pontificio Consiglio per la Promozione dell’Unità dei Cristiani.

Quando il comitato direttivo della Fondazione si è riunito dal 4 al 7 novembre, l’obiettivo era quello di aggiornarsi su tre progetti importanti per il futuro del dialogo. Ci sono attualmente tre gruppi di lavoro. Il primo si chiama “Healing of Memories” (Guarigione delle Memorie) e si occupa delle questioni storiche più delicate del rapporto tra ortodossi e cattolici, che al momento sta ponendo la riflessione su alcune situazioni specifiche in Medio Oriente, nei Balcani e nell’Europa Orientale.

“Connecting dialogues” (Mettere il dialogo in comunicazione) sta invece progettando una banca dati in varie lingue riguardante la documentazione dei vari dialoghi tra cattolici e ortodossi.

La ricezione di questi dialoghi, invece, è appannaggio del gruppo “Accoglienza e ispirazione”; che ha proposto diversi progetti per facilitare i lavori di comunione.

All'inizio della sessione è stato organizzato un evento pubblico sul documento di studio del gruppo di lavoro Sant'Ireneo "Servire la comunione: ripensare il rapporto tra Primato e Sinodalità" (2018).

Ovvio che il Sinodo 2021 – 2023 della Chiesa Cattolica è stato parte della riflessione del Comitato Direttivo, che ora si riunirà nuovamente a novembre 2022 a Roma.

Il Comitato Direttivo per il Dialogo Ortodosso-Cattolico di Pro Oriente è un dialogo informale ortodosso-cattolico della Fondazione Pro Oriente. Istituito nel 2018, riunisce ogni anno 16 teologi cattolici e ortodossi provenienti da diversi paesi al fine di presentare proposte a Pro Oriente per promuovere il riavvicinamento ortodosso-cattolico.

CATHOLICS AND ORTHODOX, THREE PROJECTS FOR WORKING TOGETHER

(Pro Oriente Foundation Steering Committee)

There are three projects of the Steering Committee of the Pro Oriente Foundation, ranging from the healing of wounds to the implementation of already established dialogues, and aiming, as is the purpose of the foundation, to give new impetus to the ecumenical journey between Catholics and Orthodox.

Established in 1964 and founded by Cardinal Franz Koenig, Archbishop of Vienna, the foundation had from the beginning the task of functioning as a bridge with the Orthodox realities of the Eastern world. The Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity also participates.

When the Foundation's steering committee met from November 4-7, the goal was to get up to speed on three projects that are important for the future of the dialogue. There are currently three working groups. The first is called "Healing of Memories" and deals with the more sensitive historical issues of the relationship between Orthodox and Catholics, which is currently placing the focus on some specific situations in the Middle East, the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

"Connecting Dialogues, on the other hand, is planning a database in various languages concerning the documentation of the various dialogues between Catholics and Orthodox.

The reception of these dialogues, on the other hand, is the prerogative of the "Welcoming and Inspiring" group, which has proposed several projects to facilitate the work of communion.

At the beginning of the session, a public event was organized on the study document of the St. Irenaeus Working Group "Serving Communion: rethinking the relationship between Primacy and Synodality" (2018).

Of course, the 2021 - 2023 Synod of the Catholic Church was part of the Steering Committee's reflection, which will now meet again in November 2022 in Rome.

The Pro Oriente Orthodox-Catholic Dialogue Steering Committee is an informal Orthodox-Catholic dialogue of the Pro Oriente Foundation. Established in 2018, it brings together 16 Catholic and Orthodox theologians from different countries each year to make proposals to Pro Oriente to promote Orthodox-Catholic rapprochement.
