INCONTRO DELLA DELEGAZIONE DELL’UNIVERSITA’ DI SOFIA CON L’EPARCA DI PIANA DEGLI ALBANESI

Guidata dal Rev.do Prof. Ivan Ivanov, ChLJ, cappellano del Gran Baliato di Sicilia e rappresentante in Italia e presso la Santa Sede del Patriarcato Ortodosso di Bulgaria ed accompagnata dal Dott. Angelo Torre, MLJ, membro del consiglio direttivo della San Lazzaro ODV, una delegazione dell’Università di Sofia «San Clemente di Ocrida», la più antica università della Bulgaria fondata il 1° ottobre 1888, è stata ricevuta da S.E. Mons. Raffaele De Angelis, Eparca di Piana degli Albanesi presso il Palazzo Eparchiale della Diocesi.

La Delegazione dell’Università di Sofia ha fatto dono all’Eparca di una icona della Vergine Maria, molto venerata in Bulgaria, segno tangibile della comune e profonda venerazione mariana che lega la Chiesa ortodossa di Bulgaria a quella cattolica di rito bizantino presente in Sicilia.

Nel corso dell’incontro, che si è svolto nel segno di un reale rapporto fraterno tra le due comunità cristiane, l’Eparca ha rivolto parole di sincero apprezzamento per l’attività ecumenica portata avanti dall’Ordine di San Lazzaro.

MEETING OF THE DELEGATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOFIA WITH THE EPARCH OF PIANA DEGLI ALBANESI

Led by the Rev. Prof. Ivan Ivanov, ChLJ, chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily and representative in Italy and at the Holy See of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Bulgaria and accompanied by Dr. Angelo Torre, MLJ, member of the board of directors of the San Lazzaro ODV, a delegation from the University of Sofia «San Clemente di Ohrida», the oldest university in Bulgaria founded on 1 October 1888, was received by H.E. Monsignor Raffaele De Angelis, Eparch of Piana degli Albanesi at the Eparchial Palace of the Diocese.

The Delegation of the University of Sofia gave the Eparch an icon of the Virgin Mary, much venerated in Bulgaria, a tangible sign of the common and profound Marian veneration that links the Orthodox Church of Bulgaria to the Catholic Church of the Byzantine rite present in Sicily.

During the meeting, which took place in the sign of a real fraternal relationship between the two Christian communities, the Eparch spoke words of sincere appreciation for the ecumenical activity carried out by the Order of Saint Lazarus.
