L'ACCADEMIA INTERNAZIONALE PUBBLICA IL SUO SESTO VOLUME DI RICERCA STORICA
L'Accademia Internazionale dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro, denominata Sancti Lazari Ordinis Academia Internationalis, ha pubblicato il sesto volume della sua rivista accademica Acta Historiae Sancti Lazari Ordinis. Curato dal Prof. Charles Savona-Ventura, dal Prof. Horatio C.R. Vella e dal Prof. Michael Ross, e pubblicato in lingua inglese, il volume contiene alcune delle relazioni presentate durante l'incontro accademico internazionale tenutosi recentemente a Malta. I partecipanti all'incontro provenivano da Malta, America, Australia, Canada, Francia, Germania, Grecia, Olanda, Irlanda, Svezia e Regno Unito.
I titoli degli articoli sono una vasta gamma di argomenti correlati che riguardano il periodo crociato della storia dell'Ordine, come "I maestri lazzariti nel periodo dell'Outremer" e "I crociati al servizio dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro in Europa per cartulario con discendenti diretti o collaterali rintracciabili"; gli sviluppi regionali, tra cui "Il ritorno dei lazzaristi nell'Outremer nel XX secolo", "L'Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme a Roma: Indulgentia Perpetua Pro Benefactoribus Hospitalis Sanscti Lazari De Urbe", "L'internazionalizzazione dell'Ordine negli anni '30 sull'esempio della Germania" e "Il Gran Baliato degli Stati Uniti del Messico negli anni '30"; e argomenti più generali come "I genealogisti e gli araldi dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro del XVIII secolo", "Araldica e insegne dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme e dei suoi membri" e "Aggiunte al catalogo delle medaglie commemorative". Questi articoli si basano sulle ricerche del Prof. C. Savona-Ventura, del Prof. M. Ross, Conte d'Evora, del Dr. D.S. Raese, del Prof. H.C.R. Vella, del Dr. A. Rademachers e della Sig.ra E. Cassar.
Con sede a Malta, l'Accademia è un'associazione registrata senza scopo di lucro, di volontariato e di pubblica utilità, regolata dalla legislazione maltese. L'associazione è iscritta al Registro delle imprese di Malta [LPA-141] e al Commissariato per le organizzazioni di volontariato di Malta [VO/1969].
Gli obiettivi dell'Accademia comprendono la promozione della conoscenza storica dell'Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme, fondato nell'XI secolo, e di altri ordini cavallereschi e crociati ad esso collegati. La ricerca storica può riguardare la gerarchia, le tradizioni, le loro leggi e la storia antica, nonché le loro relazioni con le Chiese cristiane.
Per realizzare i suoi obiettivi, l'Accademia sta avviando legami accademici con fondazioni e associazioni il cui scopo è simile o complementare al suo. Promuoverà inoltre la ricerca, la formazione o l'informazione nel campo di interesse o in quelli correlati. Dalla sua fondazione, l'Accademia ha organizzato diverse conferenze internazionali, tra cui Malta (2015), Palermo (2017), Malta (2019), Gotha in Germania (2023) e più recentemente di nuovo a Malta (2024).

INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY ISSUES ITS SIXTH HISTORICAL RESEARCH VOLUME
The International Academy of the Order of Saint Lazarus, called Sancti Lazari Ordinis Academia Internationalis, has published Volume 6 of its academic journal called Acta Historiae Sancti Lazari Ordinis. Edited by Prof Charles Savona-Ventura, Prof. Horatio C.R. Vella, and Prof. Michael Ross, and published in English, this volume contains some of the papers presented during the international academic meeting held in Malta recently. Participants to this meeting hailed from Malta, America, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Sweden and the UK.
The article titles a wide range of related topics dealing with the Crusader period of the Order’s history such as ‘The Lazarite Masters during the Outremer period’, and 'Crusaders serving the Order of St Lazarus in Europe per cartulary with traceable direct or collateral descendants’; regional developments including ‘Twentieth century Lazarite return to the Outremer’, ‘The Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem in Rome: Indulgentia Perpetua Pro Benefactoribus Hospitalis Sanscti Lazari De Urbe’, ‘The Internationalisation of the Order in the 1930s on the example of Germany’, and ‘The Grand Bailiwick of the United States of Mexico in the 1930s’; and more general topics such as ‘The 18th century genealogists and heralds of the Order of Saint Lazarus’, ‘Heraldry and Insignia of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem and its members’, and ‘Additions to the Catalogue of Commemorative Medals’. These articles are based on the researches of Prof C. Savona-Ventura, Prof M. Ross, Conte d’Evora, Dr D.S. Raese, Prof H.C.R. Vella, Dr A. Rademachers, and Ms E. Cassar.
Based in Malta, the academy is a registered non-profit, voluntary and public benefit association, governed by Maltese legislation. The association is enrolled with the Malta Business Registry [LPA-141] and the Malta Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations [VO/1969].
The objectives of the academy include the promotion of historical knowledge related to the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem established in the 11th century, and other related Crusader and orders of chivalry. Historical research may relates to the hierarchy, traditions, their laws and ancient history, as well as their relations with Christian Churches.
To realise its objectives, the academy is initiating academic links with foundations and associations, whose purpose is similar or complementary to its own. It will also promote research, training or information in the field of interest or related ones. Since its setting up, the academy organised several international conferences including Malta (2015), Palermo (2017), Malta (2019), Gotha in Germany (2023) and most recently again in Malta (2024).
