MEDITAZIONE PER IL SABATO SANTO 2025 DEL REVERENDO ENZO P. CAPUTO BOTTARI, ACHLJ PASTORE EVANGELICO DELLA CHIESA AVVENTISTA

Carissimi Confratelli e Consorelle dell’Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme,

Nel silenzio oscuro e intenso di quel Sabato degli Azzimi si consuma la prova più grande per i discepoli/e del Signore. Tristezza e disperazione si alternano con fiducia e attesa. Il dubbio e la certezza gridano forte negli animi turbati: Risorgerà?

La loro codardia, intrisa a timore, li aveva condotti nella penombra del Cenacolo dove si confortavano a vicenda, rimembrando i miracoli, gli eventi e le promesse.

Ma al tramontar del sole, quando già albeggiava il Primo Giorno, il frastuono di alcune donne pie ed esultanti, li turbò maggiormente: il Signore è Risorto! La Tomba è vuota! Le Apostole della Resurrezione, Maria Maddalena ed altre lo confermavano.

L’antico vaticinio di Genesi 3:15: “La discendenza della donna schiaccerà il capo al serpente”, definito dai Padri della Chiesa il <<protovangelo>>, si era avverato. Sul rude legno non era morto un pio giudeo ma l’Agnello di Dio caricato dei peccati del mondo.

Commentava Giovanni Paolo II: “Abbiamo così la certezza che Dio, il quale, nella sua santità trascendente, aborrisce il peccato, giustamente punisce il peccatore, ma nella sua ineffabile misericordia contemporaneamente lo abbraccia con il suo amore salvifico. Il “protoevangelo” già annunzia questa vittoria salvifica del bene sul male, che si manifesterà nel Vangelo mediante il mistero pasquale di Cristo crocifisso e risorto”.

Scriveva il pastore D.Bonhoeffer dal carcere: “Tu che punisci i peccati e perdoni volentieri, Dio, questo popolo io l’ho amato. Aver portato la sua vergogna e i suoi vizi e aver scorto la sua salvezza: questo mi basta”.

Oggi, come ieri, l’antica promessa ai nostri progenitori continua a sostenerci, perché l’opera redentiva non si è conclusa ancora. Il male, la sofferenza e la morte serpeggiano nel cuore dell’uomo e dell’umanità, questo sino a quando si udranno le trombe squillare e gli angeli annunciare: “GESU’ VIENE!” “GESU’ RITORNA!”

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem,

In the dark and intense silence of that Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, the greatest trial for the Lord's disciples is consummated. Sadness and despair alternate with confidence and expectation. Doubt and certainty cry out loudly in troubled souls: Will He rise again?

Their cowardice, steeped in fear, had led them into the half-light of the Upper Room where they comforted each other, recalling miracles, events and promises.

But as the sun set, when the First Day was already dawning, the uproar of some pious and exultant women disturbed them even more: the Lord is Risen! The Tomb is empty! The Apostles of the Resurrection, Mary Magdalene and others confirmed this.

The ancient prophecy of Genesis 3:15: ‘The descendants of the woman shall bruise the serpent's head’, referred to by the Church Fathers as the <<protogospel>>, had come true. On the rough wood not a pious Jew had died, but the Lamb of God loaded with the sins of the world.

John Paul II commented: ‘We thus have the certainty that God, who, in his transcendent holiness, abhors sin, justly punishes the sinner, but in his ineffable mercy simultaneously embraces him with his saving love. The ‘proto-Gospel’ already announces this salvific victory of good over evil, which will be manifested in the Gospel through the paschal mystery of Christ crucified and risen’.

Pastor D. Bonhoeffer wrote from prison: ‘You who punish sins and willingly forgive, God, this people I have loved. To have borne its shame and its vices and to have seen its salvation: this is enough for me'.

Today, as yesterday, the ancient promise to our forefathers continues to sustain us, because the redemptive work is not yet complete. Evil, suffering and death snake in the heart of man and mankind, that is until the trumpets sound and the angels proclaim: ‘JESUS COMES!’ ‘JESUS RETURNS!’
