MESSAGGIO DI S.A.S. IL GRAN MAESTRO AI MEMBRI DELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO PER LA MORTE DI SUA SANTITÀ FRANCESCO

Marbella, 21 aprile 2025

Eccellenze, Fratelli e Sorelle in Cristo,

è con profondo dolore e profonda riverenza che noi, membri di questo Ordine Ecumenico, porgiamo le nostre sentite condoglianze per la scomparsa di Sua Santità Papa Francesco. In qualità di Gran Maestro di quest'Ordine, fondato sui principi dell'unità, della fraternità e della compassione cristiana, mi unisco all'intero mondo cristiano nel piangere la dipartita di un pastore che ha veramente incarnato il Vangelo con le parole e con le azioni.

Papa Francesco non è stato solo un padre spirituale per i cattolici di tutto il mondo, ma anche una forza dirompente all'interno del Vaticano, sfidando le strutture e le usanze che non servivano più al messaggio di Cristo e ricordandoci la missione della Chiesa di servire i poveri, gli emarginati e i dimenticati. La sua umiltà, il suo impegno incrollabile per la dignità di ogni persona e il suo spirito generoso non sono stati solo i segni distintivi del suo pontificato, ma una testimonianza vivente di Cristo tra noi.

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di vederlo un'ultima volta durante la benedizione Urbi et Orbi, il suo ultimo gesto di grazia e di pace per il mondo. Ora, dopo aver completato il suo viaggio terreno, è tornato alla Casa del Padre, dove sarà accolto con l'amore e la misericordia che ha così generosamente predicato.

In questo momento di lutto e di incertezza, riponiamo la nostra fiducia nello Spirito Santo affinché guidi il Collegio dei Cardinali nel solenne compito di eleggere un nuovo Successore di San Pietro. Che il prossimo Pontefice possa continuare l'eredità di Papa Francesco con coraggio, compassione e un impegno incrollabile per il Vangelo.

Uniamoci in preghiera per il riposo dell'anima di Papa Francesco, per la Chiesa cattolica e per tutte le persone di buona volontà che piangono questo straordinario uomo di fede.

MESSAGE FROM H.S.H. THE GRAND MASTER TO THE MEMBERS OF THE ORDER OF SAN LAZZARO FOR THE DEATH OF HIS HOLINESS FRANCIS

Excellencies, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with profound sorrow and deep reverence that we, the members of this Ecumenical Order, extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. As Grand Master of this Order—founded upon the principles of Christian unity, fraternity, and compassion—I join the entire Christian world in mourning the departure of a shepherd who truly embodied the Gospel in word and deed.

Pope Francis was not only a spiritual father to Catholics worldwide but also a revulsive force within the Vatican—challenging structures and customs that no longer served the message of Christ, and reminding us all of the Church’s mission to serve the poor, the marginalized, and the forgotten. His humility, his unwavering commitment to the dignity of every person, and his generous spirit were not only the hallmarks of his pontificate but a living testimony of Christ among us.

We were blessed to witness him one final time during his Urbi et Orbi blessing—his last gesture of grace and peace to the world. Now, having completed his earthly journey, he has returned to the Father's House, where he will be received with the love and mercy he so generously preached.

In this time of mourning and uncertainty, we place our trust in the Holy Spirit to guide the College of Cardinals in the solemn task of electing a new Successor to Saint Peter. May the next Pontiff continue the legacy of Pope Francis with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the Gospel.

Let us unite in prayer—for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, for the Catholic Church, and for all people of goodwill who mourn this extraordinary man of faith.
