Nel corso del 2023, le giurisdizioni dell'Ordine hanno contribuito con il 23,7% delle loro risorse filantropiche al sostegno degli aiuti d'emergenza, che è la quota più importante tra i beneficiari. La quota più alta, con il 25,2%, è stata indirizzata ai progetti di servizio comunitario. Le donazioni per i progetti di assistenza ai malati di lebbra hanno ricevuto solo il 10,2% degli sforzi filantropici delle giurisdizioni.

Nel corso del 2023, le varie giurisdizioni dell'Ordine hanno effettuato donazioni in denaro o in natura per un totale di 3.589.637 di euro in denaro, in natura e in ore di volontariato - purtroppo con un calo del 12,2% rispetto all'anno precedente, quando la cifra era di 4.053.957 di euro. A questa cifra va aggiunto il contributo di Lazarus Hilfswerk, del Gran Priorato Umanitario d'Europa, stimato in 25.515.000 di euro, con un aumento del 64,9% rispetto all'anno scorso, che era di 13.010.000 di euro. Nel complesso, quindi, il contributo filantropico è aumentato del 50,9% per un totale di 29.104.637 euro [2022: 17.290.877 di euro].

Se si esclude il contributo di Hilfswerk, che si rivolge principalmente a enti di beneficenza europei, la maggior parte di queste donazioni giurisdizionali sostiene anche attività di beneficenza in Europa, con il 47,2% dell'importo totale, mentre gli enti di beneficenza del Nord America hanno ricevuto l'8,8% della quota filantropica. Il 22,4% della quota filantropica è stato destinato a enti di beneficenza africani, asiatici, dell'America centrale e meridionale e del Medio Oriente.

Throughout 2023, the jurisdictions of the Order have contributed 23.7% of their philanthropic resources towards Emergency Relief support, making this the biggest recipient cause. The highest recipient cause with 25.2% addressed Community Service projects. Donations towards Leprosy relief projects received only 10.2% of the jurisdictional philanthropic efforts.

Throughout 2023, the various jurisdictions of the Order made monetary or in-kind donations amounting to a total of €3,589,637 in monetary, in-kind, and volunteer man-hour donations – unfortunately showing a 12.2% decrease from last year’s figure which stood at €4,053,957. To this figure, one must add the contribution made by Lazarus Hilfswerk of the Humanitarian Grand Priory of Europe, estimated at €25,515,000 – showing an 64.9% increase from last year’s figure which stood at €13,010,000. Therefore, overall, the philanthropic contribution has actually gone up by 50.9% to a total of €29,104,637 [2022: €17,290,877].

After excluding the Hilfswerk contribution which mainly targets European charities, the larger part of these jurisdictional donations also support charitable activities in Europe, accounting for 47.2% of the total amount, with Northern American charities receiving 8.8% of the philanthropic share. A total of 22.4% of the philanthropic share was directed to African, Asian, Central & Southern American, and Middle Eastern charities.
