CERIMONIA DI INVESTITURA 2025 DURANTE LA SETTIMANA DI PREGHIERA PER L’UNITA’ DEI CRISTIANI

Nella Settimana di preghiera per l’Unità dei Cristiani, che dal 1968 si celebra nel periodo dal 19 al 25 gennaio in tutta Europa, hanno avuto luogo presso il Gran Baliato di Sicilia i solenni riti per l’investitura dei nuovi membri dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme, ai quali ha partecipato pure il Gran Priore di Slovacchia Chev. Capt. Mgr. Ing. Stanislav Holák, PhD, GCLJ-J.

Oltre a due membri laici (un medico ed un avvocato) sono stati ammessi due nuovi ecclesiastici: il Molto Reverendo David Hamid, Vescovo Suffraganeo emerito della diocesi anglicana di Gibilterra in Europa e responsabile per l’Italia, Gran Maestro dell’Ordine di San Davide del Galles (succeduto al Vescovo Douglas Geoffrey Rowell), un ordine cavalleresco ecumenico anglicano fondato nel 2007 presso la chiesa anglicana di Napoli ed ora con sede presso la Chiesa anglicana di Ognissanti in Roma, ed il Reverendo Pastore Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari, Presidente emerito delle Chiese cristiane avventiste del settimo giorno di Sicilia.

La veglia solenne ha avuto luogo il 25 gennaio 2025 presso l’Abbazia di San Martino delle Scale ed è stata presieduta dall’Abbate di San Martino il Molto Reverendo Dom Vittorio Rizzone, ECLJ, cappellano del Gran Baliato di Sicilia, alla presenza del Gran Priore Ecclesiastico dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro S.E. Rev. Mons. Michele Pennisi, GCLJ, mentre le omelie sono state tenute, oltre che dall’Abbate, dal Vescovo David Hamid e dal Pastore Reverendo Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari.

Domenica 26 gennaio 2025, poi, presso la Chiesa Capitolare del Sacro Cuore è stato celebrato il solenne pontificale presieduto dal Cappellano Maggiore del Gran Baliato l’arcivescovo di Monreale Gualtiero Isacchi, ECLJ, e concelebrato dal Gran Priore Ecclesiastico dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro arcivescovo Michele Pennisi, GCLJ e dall’Abbate Dom Vittorio Rizzone, ECLJ, assistiti dal Diacono Dionisio Catarinicchia, AChLJ.

Nel corso della cerimonia è stata consegnata la croce d’argento al merito alla onlus SAMO, il cui presidente Dr. Luigi Zancla è pure membro dell’Ordine, che si occupa dell’assistenza sanitaria ai malati terminali e con la quale i lazzariti di Sicilia hanno siglato, per il tramite della San Lazzaro onlus, un protocollo d’intesa per lo sviluppo di attività in comune.

La cerimonia di investitura è stata accompagnata, come di consueto, dal Coro Santa Cecilia di Agrigento, diretta dal Maestro Emanuele Di Bella, Compagno di merito dell’Ordine.

Alla fine della cerimonia hanno avuto luogo la benedizione da parte del Vescovo David Hamid, di un quadro del ‘700 di Carlo I Stuart, Re e Martire, venerato come santo dalla Chiesa anglicana e la consegna dei diplomi di ammissione nel Venerando capitolo dei Cavalieri di San Lazzaro in Monreale del Gran Priore di Slovacchia Chev. Capt. Mgr. Ing. Stanislav Holák, PhD, GCLJ-J e nell’Accademia Lazzarita San Luigi IX Re di Francia.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2025 DURING THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY

In the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which since 1968 has been celebrated in the period from Jan. 19 to Jan. 25 throughout Europe, solemn rites for the investiture of new members of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem took place at the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily, in which the Grand Prior of Slovakia Chev. Capt. Mgr. Ing. Stanislav Holák, PhD, GCLJ-J.

In addition to two lay members (a doctor and a lawyer), two new clergy were admitted: The Most Reverend David Hamid, Suffragan Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe and responsible for Italy, Grand Master of the Order of St. David of Wales (succeeding Bishop Douglas Geoffrey Rowell), an ecumenical Anglican chivalric order founded in 2007 at the Anglican Church of Naples and now based at the Anglican Church of All Saints in Rome, and Reverend Pastor Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari, President Emeritus of the Seventh-day Adventist Christian Churches of Sicily.

The solemn vigil took place on Jan. 25, 2025 at the Abbey of San Martino delle Scale and was presided over by the Abbot of San Martino the Most Reverend Dom Vittorio Rizzone, ECLJ, chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily, in the presence of the Ecclesiastical Grand Prior of the Order of St. Lazarus S. E. Rev. Msgr. Michele Pennisi, GCLJ, while the homilies were delivered, in addition to the Abbot, by Bishop David Hamid and Pastor Reverend Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari.

Then, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, a solemn pontifical was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Chapter Church, presided over by the Major Chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick Archbishop Gualtiero Isacchi of Monreale, ECLJ, and concelebrated by the Grand Ecclesiastical Prior of the Order of St. Lazarus Archbishop Michele Pennisi, GCLJ, and Abbot Dom Vittorio Rizzone, ECLJ, assisted by Deacon Dionisio Catarinicchia, AChLJ.

During the ceremony, the Silver Cross of Merit was presented to the non-profit organization SAMO, whose president Dr. Luigi Zancla is also a member of the Order, which deals with health care for the terminally ill and with which the Lazarites of Sicily have signed, through the San Lazzaro non-profit organization, a memorandum of understanding for the development of joint activities.

The investiture ceremony was accompanied, as usual, by the Santa Cecilia Choir of Agrigento, conducted by Maestro Emanuele Di Bella, Companion of Merit of the Order.

At the end of the ceremony took place the blessing by Bishop David Hamid of an 18th-century painting of Charles I Stuart, King and Martyr, venerated as a saint by the Anglican Church, and the awarding of diplomas of admission into the Venerable Chapter of the Knights of St. Lazarus in Monreale by the Grand Prior of Slovakia Chev. Capt. Mgr. Ing. Stanislav Holák, PhD, GCLJ-J and in the Lazarite Academy St. Louis IX King of France.
