MESSAGGIO DI S.A.S. IL GRAN MAESTRO AI MEMBRI DELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO PER L’ELEZIONE DEL SOMMO PONTEFICE SUA SANTITÀ LEONE XIV

Eccellenze, Fratelli e Sorelle in Cristo,

Con profonda gioia e riverenza, ci uniamo all'esultanza della Chiesa universale per l'elezione di Sua Santità Leone XIV a 267° successore di San Pietro. La sua elezione rappresenta una pietra miliare storica, in quanto è il primo pontefice di nazionalità americana e peruviana, e il primo appartenente all'Ordine di Sant'Agostino in più di cinque secoli.

Nel suo primo discorso da Papa, Leone XIV ha sottolineato l'importanza della pace, dell'inclusione e dell'unità dell'umanità, invitando a costruire ponti attraverso il dialogo. Queste parole risuonano profondamente con i principi del nostro Ordine, che fin dalle sue origini ha abbracciato una vocazione ecumenica, promuovendo l'unità tra le diverse tradizioni cristiane e il servizio ai malati e ai bisognosi.

L'elezione di Leone XIV rafforza la nostra speranza per un rinnovamento del cattolicesimo che abbracci la diversità e promuova la riconciliazione tra le confessioni cristiane, che è importante per noi come Ordine ecumenico. Come membri di un Ordine che valorizza le dimensioni spirituale, culturale e caritativa, ci sentiamo chiamati a sostenere e collaborare con il Santo Padre nella sua missione di guidare la Chiesa verso un futuro di unità e compassione. Eleviamo le nostre preghiere per un lungo e prospero pontificato per Sua Santità Leone XIV, confidando che la sua guida sia una luce per tutti i fedeli e un'ispirazione per il nostro lavoro di Cavalieri e Dame di San Lazzaro.

MESSAGE FROM H.S.H. THE GRAND MASTER TO THE MEMBERS OF THE ORDER OF SAN LAZZARO FOR THE DEATH OF HIS HOLINESS FRANCIS

Excellencies, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

With profound joy and reverence, we join in the jubilation of the Universal Church for

the election of His Holiness Leo XIV as the 267th successor of Saint Peter. Hiselection represents a historic milestone, as he is the first pontiff of American and

Peruvian nationality, and the first belonging to the Order of Saint Augustine in more

than five centuries.

In his first speech as Pope, Leo XIV emphasized the importance of peace, inclusion,

and the unity of humanity, calling for building bridges through dialogue. These words

resonate deeply with the principles of our Order, which from its origins has embraced an ecumenical vocation, promoting unity among the different Christian traditions and service to the sick and needy.

The election of Leo XIV strengthens our hope for a renewal of Catholicism that embraces diversity and fosters reconciliation among Christian denominations which is important to us as an Ecumenical Order. As members of an Order that values the spiritual, cultural, and charitable dimensions, we feel called to support and collaborate with the Holy Father in his mission to guide the Church toward a future of unity and compassion. We raise our prayers for a long and prosperous pontificate for His Holiness Leo XIV, trusting that his leadership will be a light to all the faithful and an inspiration for our work as Knights and Dames of Saint Lazarus.
