IL REVERENDO VINCENZO PAOLO CAPUTO BOTTARI PRESIDENTE EMERITO DELLE CHIESE CRISTIANE AVVENTISTE DEL SETTIMO GIORNO DI SICILIA AMMESSO NELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO

Il reverendo Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari è nato a Piazza Armerina (EN) il 03/11/1957, è sposato ed ha una figlia.

Ha frequentato la Facoltà Teologica “Villa Aurora” di Firenze e l’Università Avventista del Plata (Argentina), conseguendo la laurea in Teologia e specializzandosi, poi, presso l’Università Avventista di Collonges sous Salève (Francia).

Ordinato Diacono il 18 agosto 1978 ha ricevuto la consacrazione a Pastore il 21 settembre 1991, divenendo, poi, dal 1990 al 1995 Segretario delle chiese Avventiste di Sicilia e dal 1995 al 2000 Presidente.

Dal 2000 al 2023 ha svolto il ministero di Pastore a Piazza Armerina, Caltagirone, San Michele di G., Mirabella I., Assoro e Nicosia e dall’ottobre 2023 è Pastore Emerito.

Durante la sua presidenza è stato promotore dell’ acquisto del Podere “Le Sorgenti” in Contrada Valle Grande di Piazza Armerina, divenuto Centro Polivalente aperto a tutte le realtà cristiane; in quegli anni, per la prima volta, un Presidente avventista, diventa membro della Commissione Regionale per l’Ecumenismo (presieduta dall’Eparca Mons. Sotir Ferrara).

Da sempre impegnato nel dialogo ecumenico, ha partecipato, come invitato fraterno, alle Ordinazioni Episcopali dei Vescovi Pennisi, prima, e Gisana, dopo, guidando le delegazioni avventiste di benvenuto e offrendo al primo un quadro ad olio con le insegne episcopali, ed al secondo una croce pettorale in argento.

Ha ricevuto il “PREMIO ULISSE – CITTA’ DEI MOSAICI” consegnatogli da Mons. Antonino Scarcione nella Cattedrale di Piazza Armerina per aver promosso, nei suoi quarant’anni di Ministero Pastorale, il Dialogo fra Cristiani e con altre Religioni.

Il Reverendo Caputo Bottari riceverà l’investitura durante il solenne rito che avrà luogo nel corso della settimana di preghiera per l’unità dei cristiani.

THE REVEREND VINCENZO PAOLO CAPUTO BOTTARI PRESIDENT EMERITUS OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHRISTIAN CHURCHES OF SICILY ADMITTED TO THE ORDER OF SAINT LAZARUS

Reverend Vincenzo Paolo Caputo Bottari was born in Piazza Armerina (EN) on 03/11/1957, is married and has one daughter.

He attended the ‘Villa Aurora’ Theological Faculty in Florence and the Adventist University of Plata (Argentina), obtaining a degree in Theology and then specialising at the Adventist University of Collonges sous Salève (France).

Ordained Deacon on 18 August 1978, he received his consecration as Pastor on 21 September 1991. From 1990 to 1995 he became Secretary of the Adventist Churches of Sicily and from 1995 to 2000 President.

From 2000 to 2023 he served as Pastor in Piazza Armerina, Caltagirone, San Michele di G., Mirabella I., Assoro and Nicosia, and since October 2023 he has been Pastor Emeritus.

During his presidency, he was the promoter of the purchase of the farm ‘Le Sorgenti’ in Contrada Valle Grande in Piazza Armerina, which became a Multipurpose Centre open to all Christian realities. In those years, for the first time, an Adventist President became a member of the Regional Commission for Ecumenism (chaired by the Eparch Mons.Sotir Ferrara).

Always committed to ecumenical dialogue, he took part, as a fraternal invitee, in the Episcopal Ordinations of Bishops Pennisi, first, and Gisana, later, leading the Adventist welcoming delegations and offering the former an oil painting with the Episcopal insignia, and the latter a silver pectoral cross.

He received the ‘PREMIO ULISSE - CITTA’ DEI MOSAICI' presented to him by Mgr Antonino Scarcione in the Piazza Armerina Cathedral for having promoted Dialogue between Christians and with other Religions in his forty years of Pastoral Ministry.

The Reverend Caputo Bottari will receive the investiture during the solemn rite that will take place during the week of prayer for Christian unity.
