L'ACCADEMIA DI SAN LAZZARO DONA LAVORI DI RICERCA ALL'UNIVERSITÀ DI MALTA

Una selezione di libri e riviste pubblicati dalla Sancti Lazari Ordinis Academia Internationalis (Accademia Internazionale dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro) è stata recentemente donata all'Università di Malta. La collezione copre vari aspetti storici dell'Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme.

L'Accademia ha sede a Malta e Dalla sua costituzione ufficiale, nel 2017, ha organizzato cinque conferenze internazionali. Il suo sito web, che include informazioni storiche uniche, è disponibile all'indirizzo: http://www.lazarus-academy.com/

Gli obiettivi dell'Accademia Internazionale dell'Ordine di San Lazzaro includono la promozione della conoscenza storica relativa all'Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme, le cui origini risalgono all'XI secolo. La ricerca storica dell'Accademia riguarda l'Ordine di San Lazzaro, la sua gerarchia, le sue tradizioni, le sue leggi e la sua storia antica, nonché le sue relazioni con altri Ordini cavallereschi e con le Chiese cristiane.

La collezione di libri e riviste, che sarà ospitata presso la Biblioteca della Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, è stata consegnata dal Direttore dell'Accademia, Professor Charles Savona-Ventura, al Rettore dell'Università, Professor Alfred J. Vella. Erano presenti anche i membri del Consiglio dell'Accademia, il dottor Ray Gatt (tesoriere), il professor Horatio C. Vella (grande archivista) e Carmel Bonello (segretario e pubbliche relazioni), oltre al preside della Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia professor Dominic Fenech e al direttore dei servizi bibliotecari Kevin J. Ellul.

L'Accademia ha pubblicato finora sei riviste annuali in inglese, denominate Acta Historiae Sancti Lazari Ordinis. Si tratta degli atti dei convegni internazionali che si sono tenuti a Malta (2015), Palermo (2017), Malta (2019), Gotha in Germania (2023) e più recentemente di nuovo a Malta (2024). Il volume 7 sarà presto pubblicato.

ST LAZARUS ACADEMY DONATES RESEARCH WORKS TO UNIVERSITY OF MALTA

A selection of books and journals published by the Sancti Lazari Ordinis Academia Internationalis (International Academy of the Order of Saint Lazarus) were recently donated to the University of Malta. This collection covers various historic aspects of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem.

The Academy is based in Malta and since it was officially set up, in 2017, the Academy organised five international conferences. Its website which includes unique historical information is available at: http://www.lazarus-academy.com/

The objectives of the International Academy of the Order of St Lazarus include the promotion of historical knowledge related to the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, which origins go beyond the 11th century. Historical research of the Academy relates to the Order of St Lazarus, its hierarchy, traditions, laws and ancient history, as well as its relations with other chivalric Orders and Christian Churches.

The collection of books and journals, which will be housed at the Faculty of Arts Library, was presented by the Academy Director Professor Charles Savona-Ventura to University Rector Professor Alfred J. Vella. Also present were Academy board members Dr Ray Gatt (treasurer) Professor Horatio C. Vella (grand archivist) and Carmel Bonello (secretary and public relations), as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dominic Fenech, and the Director of Library Services Kevin J. Ellul.

The Academy has so far published six annual journals in English called Acta Historiae Sancti Lazari Ordinis. These consist of proceedings of the international conferences it has held in Malta (2015), Palermo (2017), Malta (2019), Gotha in Germany (2023) and most recently again in Malta (2024). Volume 7 will soon be published.
