PRANZO SOLIDALE NATALE 2022

Si è svolta presso la Tonnara Florio Zaharaziz, alla presenza dell’arcivescovo di Monreale Mons. Gualtiero Isacchi, il tradizionale pranzo di beneficenza per il Natale 2022.

La tonnara venne costruita, si presume, intorno XVII secolo, accanto al porto dell'Arenella. La prima data certa però è il 1830 quando venne acquistata dal Vincenzo Florio, e la tonnara venne quindi completamente ristrutturata sotto la guida dell'architetto Carlo Giachery. Agli inizi del Novecento, essendo quasi scomparsi i tonni nella zona, la tonnara venne abbandonata.

Dal 1980 gli eredi della tonnara le hanno restituito decoro trasformandola in Club Nautico nella parte prospiciente al mare e all'interno è stata adibita un'area dedicata a ristorante e ad eventi.

La manifestazione, organizzata dalla Karol Strutture Sanitarie e dal Gran Baliato di Sicilia dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme con il supporto di altre organizzazioni di volontariato e con il patrocinio dell’Arcidiocesi di Palermo, ha visto la partecipazione di circa 300 ospiti di varie provenienze etniche e culturali e molti confratelli lazzariti di Palermo che hanno servito ai tavoli degli ospiti.

L’arcivescovo di Monreale, Mons. Gualtiero Isacchi, ha sottolineato il significato di profonda comunione umana di un momento conviviale che, collocato per i cristiani all’interno del periodo di celebrazione del Natale del Dio fatto uomo, tuttavia proietta verso gli appartenenti alle altre fedi religiose tutta la propria valenza di afflato fraterno che deve caratterizzare le vicende della famiglia umana ed ha invocato su tutti i presenti la benedizione del Dio creatore.

Alle parole dell’arcivescovo si sono unite, poi, quelle dell’Imam che ha formulato una preghiera secondo il rituale islamico, del rappresentante della comunità induista e di quella evangelica del Ghana.

CHRISTMAS SOLIDARITY LUNCH 2022

The traditional charity lunch for Christmas 2022 was held at the Tonnara Florio Zaharaziz, in the presence of the Archbishop of Monreale Monsignor Gualtiero Isacchi.

The tonnara was allegedly built around the 17th century, next to the Arenella harbour. The earliest certain date, however, is 1830 when it was purchased by Vincenzo Florio, and the tuna fishery was then completely renovated under the guidance of the architect Carlo Giachery. At the beginning of the 20th century, as tuna had almost disappeared in the area, the tonnara was abandoned.

Since 1980, the tuna fishery's heirs have restored it to its former glory by transforming it into a Nautical Club in the part facing the sea, and a restaurant and events area has been set up inside.

The event, organised by Karol Strutture Sanitarie and the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem with the support of other voluntary organisations and under the patronage of the Archdiocese of Palermo, was attended by some 300 guests of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and many Lazarite brethren from Palermo who served at the guests' tables.

The Archbishop of Monreale, Archbishop Gualtiero Isacchi, emphasised the significance of profound human communion of a convivial moment that, placed for Christians within the period of the celebration of the Christmas of God made man, nevertheless projects towards the members of other religious faiths all its own value of fraternal afflatus that must characterise the events of the human family and invoked the blessing of the Creator God upon all those present.

The archbishop's words were then joined by those of the Imam who formulated a prayer according to Islamic ritual, the representative of the Hindu community and the evangelical community of Ghana.
